O2 introduces itself as a British Telecommunications firm, which had been founded under the name BT Cellnet in 1985. The year 2001 saw the creation of O2 out of BT Cellnet as a move to inject solidarity into its financial status on event of over expansion. Today, O2 is one of the leading network providers in the UK, which has even spread its wings to Germany, Slovakia and Czech Republic. Following a spat of success stages in the UK, the company bagged a healthy and strategic partnership with BlackBerry Internet phones creator Research in Motion (RIM) and Taiwan based manufacturer HTC.

O2 enjoys a prolific reputation in the UK, what with the latest and the most advanced phones by various manufacturers being offered in association with it by several phone retailers and online vendors.
